Ex-J&K CM Farooq Abdullah tests Covid-19 positive
text_fieldsSrinagar: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, tested Covid-19 positive on Saturday. Sources from the National Conference, to which Abdullah is president, informed that the Lok Sabha member is to be self-isolated till he recovers from the illness, IANS reported.
The 83-year-old veteran politician is testing covid positive for the second time. Earlier, he had tested positive for the infection on March 30, 2021.
Further, NC sources added that Abdullah's family members would also be in isolation while their test reports are being awaited.
Meanwhile, India recorded 15,815 new COVID-19 cases and 68 deaths in the last 24 hours as of 8 am on Saturday, as per Union Health Ministry updates. While the cumulative infection count reached 4,42,39,372, the total official death count reached 5,26,996.
The active caseload in the country is at 1,19,264, and it accounts for 0.31 per cent of the total cases. While the recovery rate stays at 98.5 per cent, 20,018 recoveries were reported in the mentioned 24 hours, taking the total recovery count to 4,35,93,112.
