Doubt Rahul Gandhi is Nehru family; DNA should be checked: PV Anvar
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: PV Anvar, an independent legislator backed by the ruling left in Kerala, attacked Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress leader’s “DNA should be examined”, a statement so unbecoming of a legislator, The Indian Express reported.
The MLA, who has been involved in many controversial issues for years, said in a CPI(M) election convention at the Edathunattukara in Malappuram on Monday that Rahul has no right to use the name of Gandhi since he has stooped to the level of a fourth-class citizen. He wondered if Rahul was born into the Nehru family and suggested that Rahul’s DNA needed to be examined.
Anwar was making the scathing attack on the Congress leader over the latter’s jibes against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
However, CM Vijayan defended Anwar’s statements.
He said that Rahul must be careful when he speaks and aware that he can get fitting replies. The Congress leader is not immune from criticism, the Kerala CM said.
He continued that he heard Congress leaders saying that Rahul had changed, and he thought that Rahul had acquired knowledge through his trip on foot across the country. But he recently made comments in Kerala that were unbecoming of a political leader. He should not have taken an approach that helped the BJP, Vijayan said.
He was referring to Rahul’s statement last week that when two Chief Ministers in India were in jail, the CM of Kerala was spared. Rahul added that when he is attacking BJP 24×7, Vijayan is attacking him 24×7, which is puzzling.
Congress had slammed Vijayan that he is not criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi because his daughter is being investigated by central agencies over an alleged IT firm payment scam and a cooperative bank scam in Thrissur.
