New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday revealed that there were only four not five men in the car that hit and dragged 20-year-old woman Anjali Singh on new year's day. She died of at least 40 different injuries.

Five men - Deepak Khanna, Manoj Mittal, Amit Khanna, Krishan, and Mithun - were initially arrested after the incident, and Deepak was believed to have been driving the car. The investigation has revealed that Deepak was not even in the car when the incident took place and he was at home, reported NDTV.

According to the cops, Amit Khanna was driving the car. The men in the car earlier claimed that Deepak was in the car. He allegedly took the blame because Amit did not have a driving license. Two more have been accused of trying to protect the men in the car by helping with a cover-up. The owner of the car, Ashutosh, was arrested this morning. Police are now searching for a seventh accused, Ankush.

The incident took place in the early hours of January 1 when Anjali and her friend Nidhi were on her scooter. They were returning home after a New Year's Eve party. The car hit Anjali and her leg was caught in a wheel. She was dragged away by the car. The car didn't stop even after she screamed and the occupant saw her arm under the wheels. They drove her around for an hour before the body fell off. The men in the car were allegedly drunk. They brought back the car to its owner Ashutosh and fled in an autorickshaw around two hours after the incident.

Anjali's body had at least 40 external injuries and her skin was peeled off. Her ribs were exposed in the back, the base of the skull was fractured, and some brain matter was missing, said the autopsy report.
