New Delhi: Delhi and its neighbouring areas felt earthquake tremors for the second time this week. A magnitude 5.9 quake struck Fayzabad in Afghanistan around 8 pm and its tremors reached India’s capital city.

The National Center for Seismology said in a tweet: "Earthquake of Magnitude:5.9, Occurred on 05-01-2023, 19:55:51 IST, Lat: 36.39 & Long: 70.66, Depth: 200 Km, Location: 79km S of Fayzabad, Afghanistan."

Thursday’s quake was at a depth of 200 kms below the earth's surface. There were no reports of any injuries or damage. Some social media users claimed that the tremors were felt in Pakistan and northern India as well.

On Sunday, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 hit Delhi-NCR in the early hours. Its epicentre was in the North Northwest of Haryana's Jhajjar.
