NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Sunday admitted that the second wave of corona virus infection has shaken the nation, and has assured citizens that the centre is fighting with all its might to support states in its fight against the monstrous pandemic.

PM Narendra Modi addressing the nation through 76th episode of his monthly radio programme,'Mann Ki Baat',on Sunday.

"I'm speaking to you at a time when COVID-19 is testing our patience and capacity to bear pain. Many of our loved ones left us untimely. After successfully tackling first wave, the nation's morale was high, it was confident. But this storm (second wave) has shaken the nation," he said.

"To tackle this wave of COVID, I have held meetings with experts from many fields like pharma industry, oxygen production etc," the Prime Minister said, without going into specifics.

PM also highlighted that the government is taking all efforts to take forward the attempts of the state governments and also warned citizens against falling prey to any unauthorised information regarding the virus.

"I appeal to you all to seek information on Covid-19 through reliable sources only. I am seeing many doctors have taken to social media to share information on Covid-19 and are also offering consultations," Modi said .

PM also advised people to not spread false 'rumours' regarding vaccination.

"You all must be aware that the government of of India has sent free vaccine to all state governments. All people above the age of 45 years can benefit from this," he said, adding that the Centre is on its way to provide inoculation to all people who are in need of it.
