Kochi: While exit polls nationally predicted that the BJP will open account in Kerala in Lok Sabha Elections, local media polls project the state’s traditional ruling and the Opposition alliances sharing all seats between them giving no room for the saffron party this time as well.

The Manorama News-VMR exit poll gives the ruling LDF two to four seats marking a slightly better performance than was in the 2019 polls, while the Opposition UDF is projected to win16-18 seats, The Indian Express reported.

The UDF will secure 42.06 per cent votes leaving the LDF to be satisfied with 35.09 per cent and the BJP’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to grab 18.64 per cent, according to the exit poll.

It is also predicted that UDF and LDF will lose their vote share by 4.76 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively.

Some exit polls projected that NDA will improve its vote share in Kerala increasing it by around 12 percentage points to 27 per cent.

According to the local exit polls, BJP is likely to finish second in two constituencies — Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta; Rajeev Chandrasekhar will gather 35.35 per cent of the votes and sitting MP Shashi Tharoor will retain the seat bagging 37.86 per cent of the votes.

The LDF candidate Pannyan Raveendran is expected to be at the third place with 25.58 votes.

In Pathanamthitta Congress leader A K Antony’s son Anil Antony will finish second collecting 32.17 per cent of votes while sitting MP, Anto Anonty, is likely to poll 36.53 per cent of votes.

Former Kerala minister Thomas Isaac of the CPI(M) will finish third with 27.7 per cent votes.

The BJP’s star candidate for Thrissur, actor Suresh Gopi, will finish third in obviously a serious setback to the saffron party, according to exit polls.

The UDF candidate K Muraleedharan will win the seat bagging 37.53 per cent votes while CPI’s VS Sunilkumar will finish second with 30.72 per cent votes and Gopi will certainly improve his vote share from 28.19 in 2019 to 29.55 this time.
