New Delhi: As standoff between AAP government and Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena continues, the BJP staged a novel protest in the house on Monday.

Protesting against AAP administration’s alleged inaction on air pollution, the BJP MLAs turned up in the house carrying oxygen cylinders.

The first day of the three-day session of the Delhi Assembly saw rucks, before the house was adjourned within 10 minutes of meeting.

There arouse a fierce exchange between the ruling and the opposition over VK Saxena’s alleged interference in the affairs of the government.

Coming down heavily on the governor, AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj quoted a ruling by the Supreme Court.

Bharadwaj reportedly said: “In 2018, Supreme Court ruled that other than land, public order and police, the lieutenant governor has no authority to any other matter of the government.”

BJP’s leader of the Opposition, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said Sourabh was making false assertions in the Assembly.

Aam Aadmi Party accused the lieutenant governor of stopping Delhi’s government teachers from attending training programs in Finland.

But a statement from the lieutenant governor’s office said that the LG has not rejected the proposal for the training programme.

But it added that LG advised the government to “evaluate the proposal in totality and record the cost-benefit analysis in terms of impact on quality of education”.

The statement asked the government to “assess the effectiveness of various foreign training programmes for teachers undertaken in the past”.

Also, LG reportedly asked the AAP administration to identify similar training programmes in the within the country to utilize resources, ensuring fiscal prudence.
