New Delhi: Amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, the US asked Indian manufactures not to export defence equipment to Russia.

The war stemming from Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 continues with no end in sight with the US and the West throwing their weight behind Ukraine.

Earlier the group issued sanctions against the Russia in an effort to put pressure on Moscow to stop its military campaign.

The US authorities have issued the caution from the understanding that exports from India could support Russian missile system, according to Business Standard.

“US officials are leading consultation and sensitisation meetings with the industry to raise awareness about avoiding the export of specific products such as chemicals, aeronautical parts, and components that could be used in missile systems,” a senior government official was quoted as saying.

It is reported citing the official that items exported to Russia are of dual use as they are not included in the categories of the Special Chemicals or Organisms.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden earlier this year sought unity against Russia alongside announcing new air defence system for Kyiv.
