Ahead of Modi's visit, the paint-peeling Gujarat hospital gets clean overnight: report
text_fieldsMorbi, Gujarat: In one of Gujarat's civil hospital, where many of the injured in the Morbi bridge collapse are receiving care, makeover works were happening through the night ahead of PM Modi's visit today.
The overnight repair works at the hospital with workers sweeping floors and painting walls have drawn criticism from the opposition parties including AAP and the Congress, according to NDTV.
At least 135 people were killed after the Sunday's bridge collapse in Machchhu River in Morbi and most of over the 100 injured ones are receiving care at the Morbi civil hospital.
NDTV reported about teams of workers busy working through afterhours past midnight to make the hospital neat and tidy before Modi visits.
Peeling ceiling and walls were freshly fixed and painted, new water coolers were brought in the hallways and bedsheets were replaced.
However, the paint peeling walls and ceilings and old water coolers reportedly gave away the exact condition of the hospital.
The Congress and Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) called the makeover work as " event management" aimed at " photoshoot" the Prime Minister.
The snap cleaning and renovation of government-run hospital are common head of the visit of top officials.
The Congress tweeted the makeover a "tragedy event" and "event management" adding that ahead of PM Modi's visit arrangement were made to ensure nothing is amiss in the photos of Modi's visit.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is trying to outwit the Congress to become the Opposition to the BJP, criticized the BJP for not doing the renovation works of the hospital in the past 27 years of ruling the state.
