Actor Govinda hospitalised after shooting himself in the leg, condition stable

Mumbai: Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been hospitalized with gunshot injuries in the leg.

It is reported that Govinda shot himself in the leg and the revolver involved in it was his own

The actor is now undergoing treatment at CritiCare Hospital, and police are probing the incident after seizing the weapon.

The 60-year-old was getting ready to leave for Kolkata at 4.45 am, when the incident took place.

His wife Sunita Ahuja, who was not in Mumbai at the time of the incident, told The Indian Express that the actor was stable.

Sunita added that she was rushing to the city to go directly to the hospital.

The actor’s nephew, comedian and actor Krushna Abhishek, said he was recuperating.

Govinda’s close aide Shashi Sinha told the outlet that the actor was fine, adding that ‘He is out of danger and doing well.’

Shashi Sinha said that the actor was setting his licensed revolver in the almirah when it fell on the ground, and was getting it when the bullet accidently discharged, injuring below his knee.

According to the report, the bullet has been removed and he is talking to everyone.

Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, who is present at the hospital, reportedly told Indianexpress.com that the actor will remain in ICU for at least 24 hours before doctor decide to continue his stay in the ICU or not.

It is reported that the family may release a statement about the incident.
