20% of India’s IT workforce concerned about job security, 29% experiencing burnout
text_fieldsA new report by Great Place To Work reveals growing challenges faced by employees in India’s IT sector, with 20% of the workforce expressing uncertainty about job stability and 29% reporting burnout this year.
The findings highlight mounting pressures within the industry, driven by global economic shifts and rising competition.
Despite these hurdles, some organizations are setting benchmarks for fostering resilient and supportive workplace cultures. The report credits companies investing in flexibility, employee involvement in decision-making, and work-life balance with achieving notable success. These measures have not only reduced burnout but also enhanced employee satisfaction, retention rates, and overall morale.
Balbir Singh, CEO of Great Place To Work India, emphasized the resilience shown by leading organizations in adapting to the rapidly evolving IT landscape. "These winning companies demonstrate an unwavering commitment to trust and stability, even as the sector navigates significant transformations," he said.
Burnout has risen by 3% compared to last year, affecting nearly a third of IT employees. Singh noted that these leading workplaces are countering such trends by creating environments where employees feel valued, heard, and empowered in decision-making processes.
The report also highlights a notable 3% drop in engagement levels among Gen Z workers in the IT sector. Younger employees are increasingly prioritizing purpose-driven work and community connection, underscoring the need for organizations to go beyond monetary incentives.
To retain top Gen Z talent, IT companies must focus on cultivating trust, transparency, and meaningful involvement, according to the report.
The study identified Adobe, Infosys, Accenture Solutions, Pitney Bowes India, Admiral India, and F5 Networks Innovation as exemplary organizations, recognized for their exceptional workplace cultures and employee satisfaction initiatives.
