Soni Razdan shares cryptic note on cancel culture following backlash over Ranbir Kapoor's lipstick comment
text_fieldsMumbai: Soni Razdan, the veteran actress and mother of Alia Bhatt, has posted a cryptic message on the topic of cancel culture.
It is being speculated that her note could be a response to the recent backlash surrounding a comment made by Alia Bhatt's husband, Ranbir Kapoor.
A comment made by Alia about her husband's preference for makeup choices triggered a wave of online criticism. In a Vogue video, she said that Ranbir asks her to wipe off bright colour lipsticks and prefers nude shades. Netizens slammed Ranbir for interfering in a woman's makeup choices.
Her mother, Soni Razdan, took to social media to share a cryptic note addressing the concept of cancel culture, which appeared to be subtly alluding to the incident.
On Saturday, Soni Razdan shared her thoughts through an Instagram Stories post, highlighting how the phenomenon of cancel culture was becoming increasingly absurd. She pointed out that individuals were presuming to dictate the lives of others, leading to unnecessary discussions about matters that hold no relevance to them. Her note read, "What's seeming increasingly idiotic: Cancel culture... People deciding for other people what is wrong with their lives. And then everyone jumping into some discussion or the other about things that actually have nothing to do with them. Funny times we live in."
Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of the action thriller "Animal," directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tripti Dimri, and is set to hit theatres on December 1. Ranbir's future projects include the two instalments of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra trilogy and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
On the other hand, Alia Bhatt's latest release, "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani," is enjoying success at the box office. According to exclusive reports from Pinkvilla, the National Award-winning actress is preparing to commence filming for her next venture - a prison break thriller directed by Vasan Bala. She is also set to reunite with Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Baiju Bawra," which is anticipated to begin production next year. Along with these, Alia is preparing for her role in an action film within YRF’s spy universe.
