Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police on Tuesday said that a forensic report has confirmed drugs usage by Kannada actresses Sanjjanaa Galrani and Ragini Dwivedi.

"I am proud to announce that our Bengaluru police had worked speedily and impartially in investigating the drug cases. There is a good development in the case filed last year in September," Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Kamal Pant told reporters.

Along with the 2 actresses, event managers named Viren Khanna, Rahul Tonse, and former minister late Jeevaraj Alva's son Aditya Alva were among those arrested in the case.

"We have filed a charge sheet in the court, so I cannot say anything at this juncture but the FSL report has clearly proved that some people used to take drugs," Pant said.

The hair samples of the accused were sent to Hyderabad for tests and reports have tested positive, thus confirming that they were doing drugs, said the police.

According to the Bengaluru Police, Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) reports will help them prove the case during the trials.

"Now we are confident that we will get all the evidence. This is a victory for the CCB," the official said.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) swung into action after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Mohammed Anoop, Rijesh Ravindran and Anika Dinesh in August 2020 for allegedly possessing drugs. The NCB said the trio was supplying drugs to people in the Kannada film industry.

The CCB had arrested Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani in September 2020. While Galrani was granted bail in December 2020, Dwivedi obtained bail in January 2021.
