Hollywood talent agency signs Indian director SS Rajamouli
text_fieldsAfter the worldwide success of RRR, director SS Rajamouli has become a known name in Hollywood as well and the American talent agency CAA (Creative Artists Agency) has signed him for future projects.
RRR was released on March 24 and earned over Rs 1000 crore worldwide. It is also India's third highest-grossing film of all time. The Telugu-original is the only non-English-language film to trend globally for ten consecutive weeks on Netflix.
Many fans were upset that RRR was not chosen as India's official Oscar entry. Rajamouli said that the Oscar will not affect his plans for the next film. "Oscar will be a real boost for morale for the (film's) unit and the country itself, but that's not going to change the way I work. I constantly need to upgrade myself as a filmmaker. I have to update my tools of storytelling. That goes on the side. What I want to say and how I want to is not going to change."
Don't Look Up director Adam McKay tweeted in support of the Indian director and said that the decision to snub RRR is a "travesty". He also called to nominate the film in the Best Picture category.
RRR is set in the 1920s and tells the story of a fictional friendship between two legendary freedom fighters - Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
