Chennai: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared director Jayan Nambiar’s action drama Vilaayath Buddha, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, for release with a U/A certificate. The film will open in cinemas on 21 November.

Prithviraj confirmed the clearance on social media, writing: “Censored with U/A 16+. Booking opens tomorrow! #VilaayathBudha in cinemas, November 21st!”

In the film, Prithviraj plays ‘Double Mohan’, a sandalwood smuggler nicknamed “Kutty Veerappan.” A recently released teaser shows him as a daring and witty character who mocks police comparisons to Pushpa, insisting he is “just local.” The teaser also hints at Mohan’s romantic side and his defiance against more powerful rivals.

Produced by Sandip Senan and A V Anoop, the film is written by G R Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan. Cinematography is by Arvind S Kashyap and Renadive, with music by Jakes Bejoy and editing by Sreejith Sarang. Jithu Sebastian serves as art director, while stunts are choreographed by Rajasekhar, Kalai Kingson, Supreme Sundar and Mahesh Mathew.

The film has generated strong anticipation among fans and is set for a high-profile release.
