Celina Jaitly accuses husband of domestic violence, moves Mumbai court
text_fieldsMumbai: Actor Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence complaint in a Mumbai court, alleging severe emotional, physical, sexual and verbal abuse by her Austrian husband, Peter Haag.
The plea was heard on Tuesday by Judicial Magistrate S. C. Tadye, who issued a notice to Haag and scheduled the next hearing for December 12.
In her application, filed through the law firm Karanjwala & Co., the 47-year-old actor accused Haag of domestic violence, cruelty and manipulation under the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act. Jaitly claimed she was subjected to persistent emotional, physical, sexual and verbal abuse, which ultimately forced her to flee their home in Austria and return to India.
Jaitly and Haag married in September 2010 and have three children together. The former Miss India alleged that after their marriage, her husband prevented her from working.
“The respondent is a narcissistic, self-absorbed individual. He has a short temper and alcoholic tendencies, which have consistently caused the applicant stress,” the plea stated. She also listed multiple instances of physical and verbal abuse.
According to the application, Haag filed for divorce in Austria in August this year.
Jaitly has sought a direction for her estranged husband to pay ₹50 crore as compensation and ₹10 lakh per month as maintenance. She has also requested access to her three children, who are currently residing with their father in Austria.
