White House vows to block Democratic efforts to reverse Trump’s policies

Washington: The White House has signalled a tough political stance for the remaining two years of US President Donald Trump's term, vowing to block Democratic efforts to roll back his administration's policies and warning that any fresh impeachment attempt would fail.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, a day after the November 3 midterm elections, the administration accused Democrats of planning to reverse its decisions on immigration, taxation, energy, law enforcement and other issues.

The White House said it would defend Trump's border restrictions and mass deportation measures, while accusing the opposition of seeking to weaken immigration enforcement.

It also credited the President's tax cuts with driving economic growth and claimed his administration had achieved record energy production and violent crime reduction. However, the statement offered no supporting data or specific timeframes for these claims.

The administration further vowed to resist attempts to reinstate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes and reverse policies concerning transgender minors. It also accused Democrats of planning to expand the Supreme Court, restore censorship mechanisms and weaken measures against waste and fraud.

While predicting another impeachment effort against Trump, the White House did not identify any lawmakers backing such a move or cite a formal proposal.

The statement described the coming political battle as a defence of the President's existing agenda, declaring that Democratic attempts to overturn it would fail.
