A video from London showing people setting off fireworks from moving cars during Diwali celebrations has gone viral, triggering outrage on social media.
The footage shows a line of cars driving down a city street as people lean out of windows to ignite fireworks - bursts so powerful that some viewers compared them to weapons.
The video, which clearly displays both the car registrations and the faces of those involved, has raised concerns about safety and law enforcement. While Diwali was celebrated in India on October 20, it remains unclear if the fireworks in the clip were directly related to the festival.
The video was shared on X by Harman Singh Kapoor, an Indian resident in London. He condemned the behaviour, writing: “This behaviour by Punjabi Jatts on London streets is unacceptable. They should be held liable for ASB, endangering lives by displaying fireworks from moving cars. Their car registration and faces are fully visible. Let @metpoliceuk take action after reading this post.”
The post quickly gained traction, receiving over a million views and prompting strong reactions from users. Many called for police intervention.
One user commented, “Welcome to London where it’s a criminal offence to wave a flag but these people can shoot fireworks out of cars lmao.”
Another user wrote, “Shooting fireworks from moving cars sounds less like celebration and more like an audition for chaos. London’s traffic is dramatic enough without turning it into a live-action movie set. Maybe next time they can light up the sky without risking their driver’s license.”
Several others expressed harsher opinions. One person said, “Just arrest them and deport them, Punjab is the frontrunner of making everyone hate us, and ruin decades of goodwill.”
Another added, “Third world stuff right there. They need arresting. Inciteful if nothing else.”
The viral clip has since sparked a heated debate online over public safety, cultural responsibility, and enforcement of local laws during festival celebrations.
