New Delhi: A video showing a Pakistani man celebrating Diwali in London has gone viral spreading the message of inclusivity.
Sheikh Zain, a digital creator from Pakistan, posted the video on Instagram featuring him lighting diyas alongside scenes of his Asian friends singing together and bursting fireworks.
The video, captioned as ‘Happy Diwali from a Pakistani’, has garnered over three lakh views drawing in outpouring of positive comments.
Responding to it one user wrote: ‘I’m Pakistani Muslim and I love to watch and celebrate Diwali.’
Another said: ‘This is the cutest thing I have watched on the internet today. I hope there are more like you in the coming generation, respecting and celebrating each other’s differences. Much love from India.’
Calling the festival an ‘invite for prosperity’, a third user added that everybody could celebrate it, ‘Thanks to Pak bros who believe in peace and harmony’.
However a few unpalatable remarks also came up with some users coming out defending Zain’s post.
‘I’m not understanding the hate comments under this video. It’s a simple Diwali celebration where people from different countries are coming together, staying happy. Take a chill pill. Ab you’ll want him to do pooja or tell the religious story in the caption?’ one user reportedly said.
