US revokes Visas of 6 foreigners over posts criticizing Charlie Kirk

New York: The United States has revoked the visas of six foreign nationals over social media posts that ‘celebrated the heinous assassination’ of rightwing activist Charlie Kirk, The Guardian reported citing the State Department.

Taking to social media platform X, the state department said that the US has ‘no obligation to host foreigners who wish death on Americans’.

Meanwhile authorities are working to identify the visa holders who made the comments against Kirk online.

Listing the examples of ‘aliens’ , the state department included the screenshots of and quotes made by people identified to be foreign nationals hailing from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Paraguay and South Africa.

Although the authorities have not given their names, the identities of the people listed are traceable from the screenshots, according to the report.

One of the comments posted on X said that Charlie Kirk would not be remembered as a hero, adding ‘He was used to astroturf a movement of white nationalist trailer trash!’

Concluding the statement the department said that Trump and the state secretary Marco Rubio would ‘defend’ the US borders its culture and citizens by enforcing ‘immigration laws’, announcing that ‘Aliens who take advantage of America’s hospitality while celebrating the assassination of our citizens will be removed’.

The moves comes a month after Christopher Landau, a deputy secretary of state, asked social media users to send him post critical of Kirk.

Christopher Landau, back then, said that he was ‘disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action’.

The US administration has directed foreign visitors to make their social accounts public in order to check their political leanings.

Earlier, the US administration expelled South Africa’s ambassador to the US for criticizing president Trump, and then revoked Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas’s visa to attend UN General Assembly in New York.

In another move, the administration also cancelled visas of the visas for British punk-rap duo Bob Vylan.
