UK Prime Minister's response on farmers protest leaves parliament pop-eyed

New Delhi: UK Prime Minister Borris Johnson's remarks in the parliament related to the farmers protest and the related violence has left the members pop-eyed.

During a discussion in the UK parliament, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, MP sought a response from the prime minister on the ongoing farm protest and perpetration of violence on the protesters. However, the UK minister was found altogether clueless about the issue.

The prime minister said, "Our view is that we have serious concerns about what is happening between India and Pakistan. But these are pre-eminently matters for those two governments to settle and I know that he appreciates that point"

The response left Tanmanjeet Singh, at least, open-mouthed.

"Many constituents especially those emanating from the Punjab and other parts of India and I were horrified to see footage of water cannon, tear gas and brute forces being used against peacefully protesting farmers. However, it was heart-warming to see those very farmers feeding those forces who had been ordered to beat or suppress them. What indomitable spirit and it takes a special kind of people to do that. So will the Prime Minister convey to the Indian Prime Minister our heartfelt anxieties, our hopes for a speedy resolution to the current deadlock and does he agree that everyone has a fundamental right to peaceful protest?," the Sikh MP had asked.

The Indian-origin took it to Twitter and wondered if the prime minister had known what he was talking about.
