Saudi Arabia to open its borders with Qatar

Kuwait: Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmad Nasser Al-Sabah said on Monday that Saudi Arabia would reopen its airspace and land and sea border to Qatar as of Monday, according to Al Jazeera.

It appears to be born out of a deal which the minister cited as resolving a political dispute that made Riyadh and its allies to impose a boycott on Qatar.

"Based on [Kuwait's ruler Emir] Sheikh Nawaf's proposal, it was agreed to open the airspace and land and sea borders between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar, starting from this evening," the minster is quoted as saying on TV.

Kuwait's foreign minister further said that the Kuwaiti emir had spoken with Qatar's emir and Saudi Arabia's crown prince.

The conversations according to the report " emphasized that everyone was keen on reunification"

Alongside, it mentioned a GCC summit for signing a statement which could " Usher in a bright page of brotherly relations"

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was reportedly last month invited to the summit meeting of the bloc to be held on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia; the Qatar authorities confirmed on Monday evening as Sheikh Tamim attending the meeting.

The report also says that Kuwait has been mediating between Qatar and four Arab states.
