..police surrounded, arrest imminent..: Imran Khan

Islamabad: Police have surrounded his house, and his arrest was imminent, former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party chairman Imran Khan said on Wednesday.

Last week he was arrested but granted protective bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday. Hours after Khan's warning that there would be countrywide unrest, the court granted him bail over the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Khan's arrest days ago caused mayhem in the nation, beginning with protests by his PTI workers, which soon gave way to street fights engaging law enforcement.

While condemning the violence, the leader of the Opposition, Raja Riaz, called those who attacked the Corps Commander House in Lahore enemies of the nation.

Calling for solidarity with the armed forces, he said that PTI's trained workers were behind the attacks.

Salahuddin of (Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan) reportedly said that the judiciary was giving concessions to Imran Khan.

The tussle between Imran Khan and the Shehbaz Sharif administration has played out to the extent of engaging the Supreme Court, too, causing a deeper rift between the two pillars of the state: judiciary and executive.

Khan was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau in a corruption case. His arrest had incited violent protests across the nation, which took at least eight lives.
