New York: A car crash in the US state of Texas claimed lives of three members of an Indian-origin family on August 14.
The crash had taken place at around 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday nearly six miles north of Lampasas on U.S. Route 281, FOX 10 news reported.
Arvind Mani, 45, his wife Pradeepa Arvind, 40, and their 17-year-old daughter Andril Arvind, all residents of Leander, were killed in the accident.
Their 14-year-old son Adiryan is the only surviving member of the family as he was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Now A GoFundMe page set up to financially aid the grieving boy has raised over $700,000.
The GoFundMe page titled "Support for Adiryan Arvind: A Tragic Loss and a Young Life to Rebuild" said: ‘Arvind (45) and Pradeepa (42) were a wonderful couple blessed with two children, Andril (17) and Adiryan (14)’.
Mani and Pradeepa Arvind were driving her daughter Andril to the University of Texas at Dallas, FOX10 reported citing the GoFundMe.
It is reported that five people were killed in the crash including 31-year-old Jacinto Gudino Duran, the driver of a 2004 Cadillac CTS that rammed into 2024 Kia Telluride driven by 45-year-old Mani Arvind.
"There was no chance of survival. It is one of the worst crashes I have seen in 26 years because of the magnitude of the damage and amount of people lost," police reportedly told media.
Police suspect that Jacinto Gudino Duran had been driving at 160kmph with the family’s car going at around 112 kmph, leading to what the police said it was ‘like driving into a concrete wall at 270 kmph’.
