No one will marry your children: Khan warns party MPs who plan to vote against him

Islamabad: As his government is facing a threat from vote of no-confidence, Pakistan Prime Minster Imran Khan warned that those plan to vote against him risk social disgrace and nobody would marry their children, according to The Guardian

The embattled Prime Minister was talking to a public rally on Sunday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, when he made these comments.

In what appeared to be a weak attempt to browbeating those planning to vote against him, he further said that people would neither trust them nor respect them.

Referring to the public scrutiny in social media, he said that masses were aware of what was happening in the country. "It's difficult to hide anything from them", The Guardian quoted him as saying. He said he would forgive them like a father if they changed their minds or face disrespect in the society.

The no-confidence vote is a long time coming and is likely to be tabled on Friday 25 March. Khan is facing challenge from a coalition of politicians after the Opposition parties claimed the support of 20 lawmakers of his Tehreek-i-Insaf party (PTI) and its allies.

They reportedly accused him of bad governance and incompetence. Meanwhile, he seems to have lost the support of the military establishment as well.

Opposition parties denied Khan's allegation of them horse-trading and bribing his politicians. Noor Alam Khan of PTI told media that he was disappointed at fake allegations against the lawmakers.

The Guardian reported of Human Rights Watch fearing violence ahead of the no-confidence vote, which urged both government and opposition to stop their supporters from violence.

Pakistan's Supreme Court on Monday said lawmakers be allowed to vote whoever they wanted, and asked the government and the opposition not to allow crowds outside the parliament.
