Gun fire at rally: Imran Khan, 5 others injured; 1 dead

Islamabad: Pakistan ex-Priemer Imran Khan reportedly got injured in a firing at his rally. He has been taken to hospital.

According to reports, unidentified people fired at his rally in Wazirabad in Punjab, Pakistan. He was shot in his leg and injured as well as five others. Khan's former manager Rashid and former governor of Sindh, Imran Ismail, are among the injured, India TV reported.

The media and PR wing of Pakistan armed forces, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), condemned the attack through a statement it issued. It paid its condolences to the family of a person who got killed during the attack.

The assailant reportedly opened fire at Imran's container. One of the witnesses stated that the attacker pointed both hands up in the air after loading the gun. The witness tried to stop him, and only his attempt disrupted the gunman's name, IANS reported. 

The Indian government reacted to the firing attack on Imran, saying that it is keeping a close watch on developments in Pakistan. Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that it was a development that took place, and the government continues monitoring ongoing developments, NDTV reported.

The attacker fired at Imran from below when he was standing atop a container truck to deliver his speech against the Shehbaz Sharif government. He was at his long march to Islamabad.
