Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had a narrow escape on Saturday after the plane he was travelling on developed a technical problem.
The local media reported that flight was landed on emergency requiring Khan to travel the remainder of the journey by road.
Imran Khan was on his way to Gujranwala by a special plane to address a rally on Saturday when the technical glitch came in the way.
The pilot of the plane quickly contacted the control tower, and landed the plane safely.
PTI leader Azhar Mashwani reportedly said Khan's plane returned to Islamabad soon after takeoff due to bad weather.
Mashwani tweeted that the reports of technical fault were incorrect.
Khan urged people across the country to come out to show solidarity with him.
Addressing a rally in Gujranwala, Khan warned the government that it would be responsible if the country and economy were to "plummet any further".
Imran Khan is facing contempt of court charges over his remarks against a female judge.
