Bengaluru horror! 6-yr-old raped & killed; accused held

Bengaluru: A horrific incident of rape and murder of a six-year-old girl has been reported in Bengaluru on Tuesday. According to police, the incident occurred on Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. in the Rammurthynagar police station area.

The victim's parents, who work in construction, had left their daughter alone at home when the accused, identified as 25-year-old Abhisheik Kumar from Bihar, allegedly committed the crime. Kumar, who worked as a mason, reportedly lured the girl outside and took her to an isolated location where he raped her. Unfortunately, the girl succumbed to her injuries during the assault.

Locals caught and beat the accused before handing him over to police.

The Ramamurthy Nagar police have arrested Kumar and booked him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the BNS. An investigation is currently underway, and more details are awaited.

This incident is the latest in a series of disturbing crimes against minors in Karnataka. On July 10, 2024, five men abducted and sexually assaulted two minor girls on the Karnataka-Kerala border in Kodagu district. All five accused were subsequently arrested.

In another incident on July 19, 2024, two persons were arrested in Yadgir district for raping a minor girl. The victim had been attacked while attending to nature's call.

Additionally, on May 4, 2024, a 19-year-old man was arrested in Hubballi for raping and impregnating a 17-year-old girl. The accused had allegedly targeted the victim by getting close to her through her classmate.

These incidents highlight the growing concern over crimes against children in Karnataka, and authorities are under pressure to take stringent measures to prevent such atrocities.
