‘Civil order’ in Gaza collapsing as people ransack warehouses: UN

Palestinian Territories: As Israel’s airstrikes continuing to pound Gaza, the United Nations on Sunday warned that the area’s ‘civil order’ is starting to collapse, news agency AFP reported.

The warning comes amid reports of thousands of people ransacking ‘its food warehouses’.

The raging war has caused severe shortage of food, water and electricity in the region amid continuing devastation.

The UN relief agency UNRWA reported about pillaging of basic supplies including wheat, flour and others at its several warehouses.

"This is a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege," Thomas White, Gaza's UNRWA chief, was quoted as saying.

The continuing war in Gaza began after Hamas overran Israel on October7 killing as many as 1,400 people alongside taking hostage more than 200.

Israel’s retaliation has since caused widespread casualties killing more than 7,000 people so far, according to reports.
