In response to the Group of Seven (G7) leaders' recent warnings, China issued a strong rebuttal on Monday, denouncing the summit's closing statement as "full of arrogance, prejudice, and lies."
The G7 statement accused China of supplying dual-use materials to Russia, aiding Moscow's military efforts in Ukraine.
The G7 summit, held in Italy, focused on deteriorating trade relations with China and escalating tensions over Ukraine and the South China Sea. The leaders criticized China for its alleged military support to Russia and its "militarisation, and coercive and intimidation activities" in the South China Sea, employing notably stronger language than at last year’s summit.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian addressed the media on Monday, vehemently rejecting the G7's claims. He stated that the summit's communique "slandered and attacked China" with baseless accusations, reported AFP.
Lin Jian further condemned the statement, asserting it contained "rehashes of cliches that have no factual basis, no legal basis, and no moral justification." He emphasized that the G7's allegations were rooted in "arrogance, prejudice, and lies."
