Warsaw: A cat has become the top-rated tourist attraction in Poland. The black and white cat named Gacek has a perfect five-star rating and over 1,000 reviews on Google maps.
The cat's name is pronounced as gats-eck in Polish and it means "long-eared bat". It is a free-roaming cat living in a wooden box on Kaszubska St. in the city of Szczecin. The cat receives a lot of snacks from passers-by. Now international tourists also come to see the feline. According to a local blog Notes From Poland, fans come from as far as Germany.
A local media outlet wSzczecinie has named him Gacek, the "King of Kaszubska St". They also published a video about him that has over 4.5 million views on Facebook and YouTube.
However, the first Google listing with over 2,600 reviews was removed and fans suspect that the technology might have considered the reviews spam because the cat is not a location. The new listing received around 500 reviews in just 48 hours.
A local animal shelter has asked people not to feed the famous cat. A sign next to his house says visitors can leave treats only if they are in closed packets. The sign also reads: "I happily pose for pictures, but please don’t stroke me while I’m having a nap."
