Robertson, the first gay man to hold the role of deputy prime minister and a close ally of Ardern, Nanaia Mahuta will become the first female foreign minister in New Zealand's history. She is also the first in New Zealand to wear a "mocco", the traditional Māori facial tattoo. Three lawmakers with Pacific Island heritage and three members of the LGBTQ community are also appointed in Ardern's cabinet, according to the Guardian. Kerala native, Priyanca Radhakrishnan is one among the 5 executive ministers chosen to become New Zealand's first ever Indian –origin minister.
Ardern's amicable presence builds trust in citizens, resulting in scoring highest percent of votes than any party achieved since the current political system was introduced in 1996.
Ardern was widely praised for her response to the attacks last year that killed 51 Muslim worshippers in Christchurch. The photo of Ardern hugging a woman while consoling survivors of the victims went viral. As well as her response to the tragedy was emotional and empathetic, she was tagged as fairy of peace. During her first period as Prime Minister, world was astounded to see her breastfeeding her baby at United Nations. She was also recognised for her successful effort in handling the coronavirus pandemic.
