Arvind Kejriwal arrest: Water cannons used to disperse BJP workers; police detains AAP leaders

New Delhi: While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is protesting against Kejriwal's incarceration, in a counter-protest, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attempted to march towards the Delhi Secretariat in order to demand the resignation of the chief minister. According to the police, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been put in place outside the Prime Minister's house in response to the AAP's protest, and no authorization has been given for protests.

AAP members, including party leader Somnath Bharti, Punjab minister Harjot Bains, and Chandigarh mayor Kuldeep Kumar Tita, have been arrested by the police. Meanwhile, the BJP has asserted that the government cannot run from jail.

“Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is in jail. Therefore, he should resign morally and give his responsibility to someone else,” said BJP MP Harsh Vardhan.

Kejriwal, who is being held by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), gave another directive on health services in the nation's capital on Tuesday from behind bars. The ED detained him in connection with the money laundering accusations in the Delhi excise policy case.
