Man uses ChatGPT to make AI clock generate new poems every minute

Artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT comes with endless possibilities and one user has developed an AI clock that generates poems by the minute using the new technology.

Designer and blogger Matt Webb's rhyming clock uses ChatGPT to create a short two-line rhyme that tells time for every minute of the day. "I made an AI clock for my bookshelves! It composes a new poem every minute using ChatGPT and mysteriously has this enthusiastic vibe which I am totally into," he tweeted.

He also shared an image of the clock which showed a poem, "Eleven-thirty eight, don't hesitate, Time to savor life, don't be late."

In another tweet, he shared more poems generated by the AI clock. He used the caption to declare that he did not ask ChatGPT to create poems with motivational themes. He only described his room so that the AI can use it as a reference. "Hand on heart I did not include this kind of motivational positivity in the prompt! I did describe the room from its pov, so it sometimes refers to books or the rug, or its own self as a small e-ink screen. Tbh I can’t look away. I need to get lunch but it’s compelling & magical."

One of the poems read, "11:52, time to be bold,/Minutes tick by, stories untold." Another read," It's time to explore, let your spirit soar/ 11.34 AM, don't wait anymore." The last one read, "In cozy shelves, I do reside,/ It's nearly noon, the clock confides."

In a subsequent tweet, he wrote: "I mean… where is this even coming from. I feel so nourished. BY A CLOCK." The blogger also shared a set of poems prompting him to live in the moment.

He said that the clock is powered by an old Inky wHAT screen and a Raspberry Pi he earlier set up as a regular text clock. "There's a single prompt to ChatGPT, and the clock uses OpenAI's API. The time is a parameter to the prompt. The prompt instructs the AI to respond with two rhyming lines, and encourages it to be imaginative and profound," he told The Verge.
