Meta and Amazon have launched a new Instagram for TV app that allows users to watch, like, and, share Reels on select Amazon Fire TV devices, expanding Instagram’s short-form video experience beyond smartphones.
The new app, developed in collaboration with Meta, is currently available only in the US and can be downloaded from the Amazon Appstore on supported Fire TV devices.
It brings Instagram Reels to television screens, organising content into interest-based channels using the platform’s existing recommendation algorithm.
Instagram for TV supports up to five accounts per household, making it easier for multiple users to switch profiles. Once logged in, users can search for creators, explore profiles, browse topics, like Reels, and read comments and reactions — mirroring much of the mobile app experience.
Amazon said the app is compatible with devices including the Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (first and second generation), Fire TV 2-Series, Fire TV 4-Series, and Fire TV Omni QLED Series.
The launch follows Amazon’s recent introduction of the Fire TV Stick 4K Select in India, priced at ₹5,499, which supports 4K Ultra HD playback, HDR10+, Alexa voice controls, and runs on Amazon’s Vega OS, powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor.
