HireMee launches AI-powered career guidance tool for Indian students

Bengaluru: In a significant step towards building a future-ready workforce equipped for emerging technologies and new-age careers, Bengaluru-based AI-enabled talent assessment platform HireMee launched an innovative tool on Wednesday aimed at helping students make informed academic and career decisions.

The newly introduced 'Career Navigation Assessment' is a scientifically designed psychometric tool targeted at students in Classes X, XI, and XII (ages 14-18). It maps their unique personality traits, aptitudes, and interests to potential career paths, providing a personalized roadmap for their futures.

Venkatraman Umakanth, Senior Vice President and Head of HireMee, described the tool as an innovative solution meeting the growing need for personalized career guidance. He emphasized that it offers students a reliable, engaging, and actionable way to navigate this critical phase of their lives.

According to the company, the online test can be taken anytime from the convenience of home, with detailed reports emailed to students shortly after completion. The assessment employs immersive, real-life scenarios to encourage truthful and thoughtful responses while reducing social desirability bias. These scenarios are designed to foster critical thinking and provide accurate insights into students’ natural preferences and abilities. Combining these elements, the tool generates tailored career recommendations aligned with each student’s strengths, aspirations, and motivations.

Chocko Valliappa, Vice Chairman of the Sona Group of Institutions and CEO of Vee Technologies highlighted that the assessment is rooted in the principle that Indian youth deserve careers aligned with their aspirations. He noted that the panel behind the tool was chosen to ensure diverse expertise, capturing varied perspectives on content relevance and cultural appropriateness.

Since its inception in 2017, HireMee has assessed over 700,000 students free of cost, enabling more than 270,000 students to secure interview opportunities with various companies.

This launch will take place shortly after the University Grants Commission (UGC) releases draft guidelines for implementing the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Higher Education. The initiative aims to provide individuals who have gained competencies through informal and non-formal learning methods access to higher education.

The UGC stated that these guidelines are designed to create diverse and flexible pathways, allowing individuals from varied educational backgrounds and experiences to pursue higher education based on their demonstrated competencies.
