Gmail on Android gets improved search filters for accurate results

Google has introduced new search filters for Gmail on Android that will enhance user's search results. The news feature will allow users to use these filters independently or post search and choose from options like From, Sent to Date, and Attachments.

The feature will be useful for users who are looking for a specific email or piece of information.

Users can use the search filters underneath the search field in the new Gmail app on Android when searching.

"For example, you can type a query and further narrow results by selecting search filters like from colleague's name, or a specific timeframe. When searching for emails by sender, users can choose from a list of suggested senders or search for emails from multiple senders," Google said in a blog post.

Google calls these filters "Search chips", they were introduced in 2020 on Gmail for desktop and iOS.

The user's search can be narrowed, faster, and more useful with these filters. For example, if a user is looking for a specific email that he or she got a month ago with an attachment, it will be searchable by entering the sender's name, a PDF, and the time window.

The Google App for Android is also getting an upgrade that allows users to customise personalised search results. Users will be able to use the app to enable or disable customised search results options.
