Seoul: Samsung Display, the screen manufacturing subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, announced on Sunday that it will showcase an innovative range of foldable and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays at CES 2025. The company aims to expand its presence beyond smartphones into the IT and automotive sectors.
At the upcoming CES, set to run from Tuesday for four days in Las Vegas, Samsung Display will feature its flagship foldable panels for IT devices and cutting-edge display solutions designed for vehicles.
Leveraging its expertise as the supplier of foldable screens for Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series, Samsung Display will highlight advancements in automotive applications and artificial intelligence.
A major highlight of the exhibit will be the world's first 18.1-inch foldable monitor, along with new offerings like slidable and multi-foldable displays. The 18.1-inch foldable panel for IT devices, when unfolded, provides a screen size equivalent to two tablets. When folded, it transforms into a 13.1-inch laptop display with touchscreen functionality.
Additionally, visitors will see OLED-enabled tablets and laptops that offer lower power consumption and superior color reproduction, making them ideal for outdoor use.
In addition to IT devices, Samsung Display is targeting the automotive sector with a range of innovative products aimed at enhancing driver assistance systems, functionality, and the aesthetic appeal of vehicle interiors. A key product in this area is demo cockpits equipped with under-panel camera (UPC) technology. This technology integrates the camera beneath the display, enabling a seamless design.
Originally developed for foldable screens to ensure a smooth, full-screen experience, UPC technology is being applied in vehicles for the first time, according to the report.
