Paris 2024 organizers have revealed a new display of the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower, marking 50 days until the Summer Olympics commence in the French capital.
The 29-by-13-meter structure, crafted from recycled steel, was mounted on the south side of the iconic monument by a team of about 30 workers utilizing four cranes.
The Eiffel Tower will play a central role in the Olympics, serving as the venue for beach volleyball competitions at its base. Additionally, pieces of steel from the Eiffel Tower have been incorporated into the Paris 2024 medals, adding a unique touch to the upcoming games.
The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, positioning the Eiffel Tower as a symbolic and literal centerpiece of the event.
The giant structure is made of recycled French steel and weighs a whopping 30 tons. Each of the five rings is a massive 9 meters (30 feet) in diameter. The rings are prominently displayed on the south side of the Eiffel Tower, overlooking the Seine River. They will be illuminated every night with 100,000 LED bulbs throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
