The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to commence officially with the opening ceremony on Friday, July 26.
However, India's participation will kick off a day earlier, on July 25, with archery events.
The Paris Games will feature over 10,000 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees, and India aims to surpass its best-ever tally of seven medals from Tokyo 2020.
A contingent of 117 Indian athletes, including notable stars like javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, badminton champions PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, will represent the nation.
India's events will begin on Thursday, July 25, with the archery ranking rounds.
The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, July 26. Following the opening ceremony, the Indian men's hockey team will play against New Zealand in their first pool game on Saturday, July 27. Badminton, boxing, shooting, and table tennis events will also start on this day.
India's first competitive event is the women's archery ranking round, which is set to begin at 1 PM on July 25.
The Paris Olympics will run until August 11, 2024, with competitions held across 33 venues in Paris and other French territories. In India, the Paris Olympics 2024 will be broadcast on Sports 18 and the Viacom 18 network, ensuring comprehensive coverage for Indian fans.
Additionally, the events will be live-streamed for free on the JioCinema app, allowing viewers to follow all the excitement and cheer for their athletes as they compete on the global stage in Paris.
