Adelaide: Chile’s Joaquin Niemann delivered a flawless performance at the Grange Golf Club, firing a bogey-free 7-under 65 to secure the LIV Golf Adelaide title with a commanding three-shot victory on Sunday.

Mexico’s Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz both carded 71s, finishing tied for second place at 10-under.

“Days like today make me grow as a player. There is a lot I have to take from today and learn from it because today was a really good day. If I could have these Sundays more often, chasing leaders, it would be really good for my game," said Niemann, who captured his second career victory in Australia, having previously won the Australian Open in 2023.

Sam Horsfield, who entered the final round tied with Ancer and Ortiz at nine under, finished in a share of seventh place after a disappointing three-over 75. Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin also secured a spot in the group at seventh after closing with a 69.

While Ancer missed out on the individual title, he still had reason to celebrate as his team, Fireballs GC, claimed the team championship by six strokes over Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII, with Torque GC finishing third.

The Fireballs secured their fifth tournament victory in club history, achieving wins on four different continents. They remain the only team to have claimed at least one team title in all four LIV Golf seasons. Captain Sergio Garcia and David Puig each posted 5-under 67s, while Ancer and newcomer Luis Masaveu, a 22-year-old rising talent, contributed with 71s.

“Obviously, the last two holes were rough, finishing with bogey-bogey while having a chance to win the tournament. It’s always tough, but I think it’s just fuel for the rest of the season. I feel like my game is trending in the right direction. I like where things are headed," said Ancer, who will enter LIV Golf’s next tournament in Hong Kong as the defending champion.
