India's Asian Games schedule for September 23: Mirabai Chanu, Manu Bhaker in focus

India will have multiple medal opportunities on Day 4 of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on September 23, with weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker among those in action.

Chanu, a silver medallist at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, will compete in the women's 49kg weightlifting final at 10 am. Gyaneshwari Yadav will contest the women's 53kg final at 1:30 pm.

Bhaker, who won two individual bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will compete in the women's air pistol individual qualification at 6:15 am alongside Suruchi Inder Singh and Esha Singh. The individual final is scheduled for 9 am, subject to qualification. Suruchi and Esha will also compete in the women's air pistol team qualification.

In badminton, India's men's team, which has already assured itself of a medal, will face China in the semi-final at 11:30 am.

Roshibina Devi will take on Indonesia's Thania Kusumaningtyas in the women's Sanda 60kg semi-final from 2:30 pm onwards.

India's day will begin with action in soft tennis, esports and sepaktakraw. Jay Meena will face the Philippines' Sherwin Nuguit in the men's singles quarter-final at 5:30 am, with the semi-final and gold medal match scheduled for later in the day if he progresses. In eFootball, Daniel and Chinmay Sahoo are scheduled to play their quarter-final at 5:30 am, subject to qualification.

Rowing will see several Indian entries, beginning with Balraj Panwar in the men's single sculls heat at 5:40 am. Satnam Singh and Salman Khan will compete in the men's double sculls, while Jaswinder Singh and Nitin Kumar will feature in the men's pair. Gurbani Kaur, Poonam, Tendenthoi Devi Haobijam and Aleena Anto will compete in the women's four. Further heats involving India's lightweight double sculls, quadruple sculls and men's four crews are scheduled from 11:20 am.

In canoe sprint, Megha Pradeep will compete in the women's canoe single 200m heat at 6:50 am. Indian crews will also compete in the women's kayak double, men's kayak double and women's canoe double events.

Ashish Limaye and Fouaad Mirza will continue their eventing individual campaign in the cross-country final on Day 2 from 6:30 am.

Table tennis will see Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade, as well as Manush Shah and Diya Chitale, compete in mixed doubles Round of 32 matches. The Round of 16 is scheduled for 10:15 am, subject to qualification.

In fencing, Naorem Mina Devi and Joys Ashitha Stalinraj will compete in women's foil individual pool bouts, while Gisho Nidhi K.P. and Karan Singh will feature in men's sabre. The medal bouts are scheduled for 2:10 pm and 2:30 pm respectively, subject to qualification.

Swimming action starts with the men's 100m butterfly heats featuring Rohit Benedicton and Sajan Prakash at 6:42 am. Aneesh Sunil Kumar Gowda and Vedaant Madhavan will compete in the men's 200m freestyle heats at 7:03 am, with the respective finals scheduled for 1:38 pm and 1:54 pm, subject to qualification.

In kabaddi, India's women's team will face Iran at 8:30 am, while the men's team will take on Bangladesh at 9:45 am. Boxer Ankush will face Bahrain's Hamsa Vogel in the men's 80kg Round of 16 from 8:30 am onwards.

In squash, Abhay Singh, Tanvi Khanna and Veer Chotrani will begin their respective singles campaigns. India's women's hockey team will face Thailand in a Pool B match at 11:30 am.
