Indian women's hockey team secures semifinal spot in Asian Games

The Indian Women's Hockey Team secured a spot in the semifinals of the 19th Asian Games with a resounding victory, defeating Hong Kong China 13-0 in the final Pool A match.

In a display of absolute dominance, India's goal scorers included Vandana Katariya (2’, 16’, 48’), Deepika (4’, 54’, 58’), Monika (7’), Deep Grace Ekka (11’, 42), Sangita Kumari (27’, 55’), Vaishnavi Vithal Phalke (34’), and Navneet Kaur (58’).

From the very start, India initiated a relentless offensive against Hong Kong China, securing a commanding 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Vandana Katariya (2’) scored a superb field goal, followed by field goals from Deepika (4’) and Monika (7’). Vice captain Deep Grace Ekka (11’) converted a penalty corner, further strengthening India's lead.

The second quarter mirrored the first, with India maintaining control of the game. They continued their offensive onslaught, resulting in an extended lead. Vandana (16’) demonstrated her skill with another impressive field goal, while Sangita (27’) added another goal, propelling India to a commanding 6-0 lead at halftime.

Despite the comfortable advantage, India displayed unwavering determination in the third quarter, maintaining their dominance on the field. Vaishnavi (34’) and Deep Grace (42') scored goals from penalty corners, securing an 8-0 lead for the Indian team heading into the final quarter.

India maintained the hunger for goals in the fourth quarter, scoring five times. Vandana (48’), Deepika (54’, 58'), Sangita (55’), and Navneet (58') contributed to the goal tally, sealing a resounding 13-0 victory.

With this unbeaten performance in the Pool stage, India advances to the semifinals scheduled for October 5.
