On-field collision, death of player: Andorra goalie considers quitting

Football: FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono is reportedly considering retiring from football after an on-field collision with Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel resulted in the striker's death, according to reports.

The incident took place during a Spanish second-division match between the two teams on Monday, November 2. Owono rushed out of his goal to clear the ball but collided with De Miguel, 30, who suffered serious injuries. The match was abandoned as medical staff attended to the forward before taking him to hospital. He died on Tuesday morning.

Spanish media reports say the tragedy has deeply affected Owono, who is struggling to come to terms with what happened. His club is providing him with psychological support.

Ana Maye, coordinator of Equatorial Guinea's national team and a close associate of the goalkeeper, said Owono was finding it difficult to cope with the loss. She also said he was particularly troubled by thoughts of De Miguel's widow and young child.

Owono has described the period since the incident as the most difficult of his life and expressed sympathy for the striker's family. He has also deactivated his Instagram account after receiving abusive messages blaming him for the death.

The Equatorial Guinea international has been left out of his country's squad for this month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Zimbabwe. The national federation has expressed its support for him.

Spanish police have opened an investigation into De Miguel's death. Owono has not announced any final decision on his future in football.
