Cricket: At the men's T20I World Cup 2022, India won the match against Bangladesh, but the Men-in-blue has not yet made sure of a seat in the semifinals. There are chances for Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa in Group 2, reports NDTV.
After Pakistan's win over South Africa, which had slammed India during their match, the qualification chances are equally open for the four teams. India has its next match against Zimbabwe, who had beaten Pakistan too.
Now the question is, what will be India's fate in the tournament if its match with Zimbabwe on Sunday gets cancelled due to rain?
The rain had turned up like a bad penny so far in the tournament, causing matches to be cancelled or readjusted with reduced overs. Though Group 2 wasn't affected deadly, multiple matches were abandoned in Group 1. This has led to a chaotic situation too.
However, India will be qualified for the semifinals, but it can't be assured that it will finish as group winners. India has 6 points and is at no.1 in Group 1. South Africa follows with 5 points and Pakistan with 3 points. If the Ind-Zim match gets abandoned without even a 5-over-a-side contest, the teams will win a point each and India will have 7 points.
Further, the winner of the Pakistan-Bangladesh match will have to pray for South Africa to lose its match against the Netherlands to have a ray of hope to see semis.
As per tournament rules, the semifinals and the final has the provision of a reserve day in case of rains, NDTV reports.
