IPL: South African pacer Kagiso Rabada reached the milestone of picking 100 wickets in the Indian Premier League in a lesser number of matches on Thursday. Radaba, playing for Punjab Kings against Gujarat Titans, reached the milestone in 64 IPL matches after he took out Gujarat batter Wriddiman Saha, Asian News International reported.
Earlier, the record holder was Sri Lankan former pacer Lasith Malinga, who had touched 100 IPL wickets in 70 matches.
Before Punjab, Rabada used to be a robust asset for the Delhi Capitals with his fiery deliveries. He, along with his compatriot Anrich Nortje, used to serve other franchises with some challenges.
Bhubaneshwar Kumar is the fastest Indian to take 100 IPL wickets in terms of matches played. Then Rashid Khan, Amit Mishra and Ashish Nehra made it from 83 matches, while Yuzvendra Chahal 84.
In the match between reeling Punjab and Gujarat on Thursday, Shahrukh Khan and Jitesh Sharma batted for the former to take them to a total of 153/8 at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium. However, Gujarat, who struggled despite wickets in hand, won the match, sparing a ball after Rahul Tewatia's intelligent scoop.
