Ind-England Test: Day 3 starts with Kohli-Bairstow rub

Birmingham: The third day of the 5th match of the India vs England Test series started with Virat Kohli having a rub with England's start batter Johnny Bairstow, NDTV reports.

Broadcast caught Kohli approaching Bairstow, who was in pads, and signalling the latter to stand in his crease. The former Indian captain also issued hand gestures, asking Bairstow to keep quiet. Bairstow also returned gestures.

England captain Ben Stokes noticed the exchanges between Kohli and Bairstow and had a word with the former. Later the Indian superstar batter, Kohli, approached Bairstow with an enormous smile and gave the England batter a friendly punch on the arm.

Further, the broadcast also showed a clip of both leaving the ground during a rain break and having a laugh together.

India got all out on their first innings on Day 2 at 416. Though the second innings started the day itself, rain halted the day multiple times. On Day 3 on Sunday, England has a massive batting wreck after losing six wickets, including captain Bens Stokes and veteran Joe Root, at 200 runs. Now, Bairstow, at 91 off 113 balls, is trying a rescue, along with Sam Billings, who just came in. While captain Jasprit Bumrah took three English batters out, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur one each.

India also faced an initial slow down, but Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja scored centuries, adding 222 runs at the sixth wicket.
