13-yr-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi breaks fresh record!

Cricket: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 13-year-old batting sensation of Indian cricket, has surpassed a fresh record to become the youngest Indian player to play a List A game. Suryavanshi, who hails from Bihar and made the record to become the youngest player to be sold in an Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, broke the List A game record that stood for a quarter of a century, NDTV reported.

He broke the record playing for Bihar in his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut against Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. The Vijay Hazare Trophy is a one-day tournament in India.

Suryavanshi, 13 years and 269 days old, broke the previous record set by Ali Akbar in the 1999/00 season. Akbar played for Vidarbha for 14 years and 51 days.

There are more age records Suryavanshi already broke, including becoming the youngest player to play a Ranji Trophy game and to represent India U19.

However, the Vijay Hazare match did not work well for him after he got out, scoring 4 runs from two balls. He slammed his first ball for a boundary but got dismissed in the very next ball by Aryan Anand Pandey, NDTV reported.

Suryavanshi won his first IPL contract in November after he was bought by former tournament champions Rajasthan Royals. He had exhibited a good performance at the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup, scoring 176 runs in five games with an average of 76 and a strike rate of 145.
