Ahmedabad Defenders one step in the Semi final

Hyderabad:Ahmedabad Defenders almost booked a place in the semi-finals of the Prime Volley ball League after registering their third straight victory in the competition. The Defenders beat the hosts Hyderabad Black Hawks 4-1 in a lopsided match at the GMC Balayogi Indoor stadium here, The final score- (15-13, 15-10, 15-12, 15-8, 9-15)

However, the Defenders were unable to make a clean sweep and failed to secure the bonus point as they lost momentum in the final set. For Ahmedabad, Angamuthu-Shon.T. John combo once again thwarted all Hyderabad blockers, while the captain Muthiuswamy was flawless in his game.

He was adjudged the Player of the Match. Rohit Kumar and foreign recruit Antonio played superbly for the Black Hawks in the first two sets, but faded as the match progressed.

Only in the final set, Hyderabad managed to keep up the pressure and maintained a healthy lead till the end. It was too late for them to prevent the Defenders from winning the match, but managed to deny a bonus point to Sajjad Hussain's side.
