Japanese Olympic Committee Chief Takeda to Quit following Corruption Probe

Paris: Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) Chief Tsunekazu Takeda will step down in June following investigation in suspected corruption in Tokyo's successful bid to host the 2020 Summer Games.

After questioning him, French prosecutors placed him under formal probe in December.

Takeda told a JOC board of directors that he would step down and wouldn’t try re-election.

However, talking to media he said he didn’t believe having done anything illegal.
